2005 GSX-R600 Build

So, I bought a 2005 gsxr600 track bike. I'm fixing it up to get it back on the street. Some of you know the bike. I made a filler plate to mount the tail light to. I didn't realize the tail light was that big, so I don't even need it now haha.
Took the front and bottom fairing off.

The tank has a few dents and is gonna need a respray

I've been trying to find where to plug the turn signal cluster on the left handle bar. Ive looked over the front harness and can't find a 10 pin connector. If by chance anyone knows where this goes, let me know lol
Had a change of plans after realizing the race fairings would not work, along with the race fairing stay. I bought an oe fairing stay, and a used upper fairing with a small amount of rash/damage and got it on the road. It looks goofy a hell, but I think I might just ride it like this for awhile and try to save some money.

It looks silly as hell.

Looks like an ugly dual sport or something. Very cool :-)

So how's it ride?
Haha it kind of reminds me of a Buel. It's actually growing on me. It rode pretty good. I actually finally got the plates for it yesterday, put them on when I got home. Hopped on and rode it to Dubois county haha. No problems so far. Just a few minor things I need to address. I put almost 150 miles on it yesterday. As I was about to get it onto i164, I realized I had never taken it on an actual curve, instead of just at stop signs lol

Yes lol. New project direction lol. I pulled it into the garage with 297 miles on the trip tonight.

I can go roughly 50 miles on a tank of gas.  smug
Picked these up yesterday for cheap. Going to sand em down and paint them the same blue as the rest of the bike. Still looking for a place to fix the tank and then it all will be resprayed with the blue. I may mask off the gsxr emblem and the black stripe and leave them on it.

It's not bolted on, just giving an idea.
Looks great!

I need to find time to work on mine:-(

I gotta order so much stuff though. Tires/tubes/spokes/chain/sprockets/bars/signals.... Ugh. Sucks to even think about it.
There was a guy up in Princeton that had every piece I needed when I first bought the bike. Headlight housing, all the fairings, signals, bulbs, and fairing stay. I wish he would have posted it about 3 months earlier. All oem pieces too.
Finished re-repairing a few spots that the guy I bought it from didn't fix right.

Then primed them today. They turned out OK, a few spots where my skill showed through lol. I should have touched up a few of the spots a little bit better, but I'm hoping the paint will help hide them some.

I hope to have these on for the road meet.
Another update:

I had painted these about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was so unimpressed with the paint job, that I just didn't even put them on the bike. I've never sprayed a metallic. Can you spray it too heavy. It looked good out in the light, but when I put it up to the bike inside the garage, it looked purple and didn't have that "pop" that the original blue had. It looked almost blueish-purple. I decided to put them on the bike today. It wasn't as bad as I remembered.

A small issue I found that since I had these woodcraft case savers, it butts up right to the fairing. I have a feeling it is going to start blistering once it gets warm in traffic.

And this was my headlight issue the other week. It took me a few days to find the problem.
Sold it today. $4,000. As is. I didn't expect to get that much out of it.

Getting too cold to ride, kid on the way, thinking about some hardware for the lady, want to find a clean one that hasn't been dropped, and couldn't pass up $4,000. Especially for the condition it was in and it being the end of the riding season. The paint was mismatched, the tank still needed fixed and painted, the tail needed painted, and there was an exhaust leak right where the muffler bolts on. Wasn't worth the headache of keeping it
I wouldn't have passed that up either
