Bikes you've owned thread.

Figured this could be interesting (or completely stupid) ...

- <don't remember the brand, probably a Huffy dept store bike> Dark blue, stolen when I was a kid
- <don't remember the brand, probably a Huffy dept store bike> LIght blue, replaced aforementioned stolen bike
- Murray generic dept store bike, red, still sitting in storage
- 2003 Giant Boulder SE, ended up selling this for beer money in San Francisco (no joke).
- No idea on year (I would guess late 90s based on the 1" headset size) REI Novara road frame. Stripped the bottom bracket threads attempting to chase them with a Park BB threading tool, ended up throwing it away. I only paid $1 for it on eBay and picked it up in Indianapolis so no shipping cost.
- 2003ish Cannondale CAAD 3 road bike, bought the frame off eBay and built it up myself. Fork was a LOOK full carbon, Ultegra 9-speed drivetrain. Ended up parting it out because I moved back to Evansville and I won't ride on the road here, drivers are heinous.
- 1970s Schwinn Varsity 10 speed (2x5) road. I stripped it and got rid of the old parts, the frame+fork is sitting in storage rotting away. Every once in awhile I think about building it up as a fixie or single speed road bike but I'm super lazy.
- 2007(?) Jamis Sputnik single speed road bike. It fit me weird so I stripped the parts and put them on ...
- 2007 Giant Bowery single speed road frame I got off eBay. Sold this because I didn't ride it (see previous comments about heinous drivers).
- 2006 GT Ruckus SS mountain bike. Rode it a fair bit on trails but tired of the SS and the hardtail. This is now my beater/errand bike.
- 2008ish Schwinn Frontier GSX. I bought this for my girlfriend and she rode it awhile but stopped when I gave her the Enduro (see below). It's now owned by my ex-girlfriend's father's girlfriend AFAIK.
- 2008 Giant STP SS. Thought I'd like to pretend to be a professional trials rider until I realized I'm a talentless hack. eBay'd!
- Early 2000s (Frank, help me out?) Specialized Enduro prototype. This is the whore bike of our group that has been owned by everyone. Bought this from Mike but realized after two rides at Scales that it's a bit small for me (it's a medium). This is my ex-girlfriend's bike now.
- 2008 Giant Reign 2. My favorite mountain bike ever. I love this bike, and when I'm "done" with it there will be no stock parts except the frame. I'm going to ride it until it breaks. When it breaks, I will replace it with whatever the equivalent Giant frame is at that time. Most of what I just wrote is not true and I am already considering selling this bike.
- 2010 Specialized Secteur Elite Compact

Okay, that was stupid long. I should've titled this thread "reasons why I am the least decisive person in history."
a really cool mid 70's schwinn bananna seat beast
a crap huffy circa 1988
a really crap royce union circa 2000
2005 specialized Hardrock- replaced everything except fork, which will be happening soon

2007 Trek Pilot 1.2, stolen last June....
2008 Redline BMX

Just picked up and overhauled a Dahon Boardwalk folding bike

and just picked up a older steel frame Redline BMX that I'm overhauling......

I'm trying really hard to not go bike crazy but what I really would like 3 more bikes..... a new MTB dual suspension, a MTB dirt Jump, and another road bike.

You'll probably laugh but I was really kind o interested in the Sette Flite... I read some dodgy reviews of the Rock Shox monarch 3.1 but i'd be ok with it..... and it'll probably reduce cost to 1100 in a few months.... maybe....  I'm not that great of a biker. I don't much care for climbing on trails, and I don;t really care for super light or carbon stuff..... I'd rather fly on something that can handle bigger hits and eat gophers...

Anyone else have an opinion on the Sette?

As a kid, I had too many bikes to list.  They would only last a year, maybe two.  My first 'real' bike was a 1993 GT Outpost.  Fully rigid chrome-moly frame.  After years of neglect I sold it to Mr. Boson who, as an urban freeriding pioneer, promptly destroyed it.

Then I bought a 2002 Trek Bruiser 2.  I got a lot of use out of that bike then last summer 1.6t bought it from me.  It's looking better than ever now.

Last year after being lazy for years I decided to start biking again.  I bought a 2008 Specialized Pitch Comp and started trail riding a lot.  This has been an excellent purchase.

After riding it downtown one time I realized I didn't like the way the Pitch felt on the street so I picked up a 2009 Giant STP 1.  This has also been a great bike.

I really wouldn't mind having a lightweight hardtail XC bike.  The Pitch is nice and plush but it's a bit on the heavy side.  I'd also like to have either a freeride or downhill bike even though we don't have the terrain for it.  Dan's Comp has an 06 or 07 Big Hit in the showroom that I think would be a lot of fun to play with.

*The comments above are subject to violent mood swings, irrational prejudices and the fact that I am a miserable bastard.
I had a bunch of bitching bikes when I was a kid.

In 2002 bought a Giant Warp and still ride it, both trail and street.

I am not nearly as indecisive as Zandr.  Therefore I am better.

True story.

My first bike was some crappy Roadmaster in the 90s.  It was a mountain bike, but had sort of hybrid tires on it and I mostly rode it on the road(because it was the master).

Then in like '98 I got a Diamondback Viper BMX.  I then realized I would never race BMX and I didn't really care for the feel, so I sold it to a kid at school, who had it stolen, and then it was bought by another kid I knew, who then gave the frame to one of my friends.  I brought the frame home last summer, but then i promptly took it back because I would never do anything with it.

Finally, I started to get into riding in about 2004 so I would borrow my dad's spare Trek road bike which sort of became mine.  I bought a Giant Rincon from my cousin and rode that until my dad handed me down his GT Aggressor mountain bike that has been mildly updated.  They are both crap bikes compared to what you guys have, but they serve me well and they both have a buttload of miles on them from when my dad rode them and me riding them.

I was planning on buying a full suspension mountain bike, but my student load grace period is ending, so I'm going to wait until I can find a better job.

Edit:  I neglected the Giant Rincon i rode before the GT.
I started out on a Mongoose Pro Sniper BMX bike. It didn't take me long to realize that it was a piece of shit, so i upgraded what I dcould on it before eventually buying a Haro Backtrail frame. I rode that for a couple of years, then bought a Fit Logic frame. That's the longest I've ever had a frame, which was around 3 years. I bought my first "good" frame when I started at Dans; an S&M Light as Fuck (LAF). I rode that until the Lighter Than Fuck (LTF) came out, and I bought one as soon as I could. I rode that for about a year, then Frank talked me into the KHE Spectre frame I ride currently. It's very purple.  smug
