Biking Destination Speculation Station

When is everyone going to check out New Harmony? From what I hear it kicks Scales' ass. One of my managers here at Dans is a huge mountain bike nut and said it's by far better than Scales. I'm going to maybe check them out this weekend.

New Harmony
32.0 mi – about 55 mins

Scales
16.5 mi – about 33 mins

Angel Mounds
9.4 mi – about 18 mins

Hell I don't go to scales because it's so far, at least during the week.  New Harmony would be an event.

Do you have an address or know directions to this place?

I don't know the specifics, but it's in New Harmony Park. I'm sure if you ask the gate house attendant they'll tell you, and they usually have maps up too.

I split this into a new topic because 1) I thought it was a good idea and I am infallible and 2) because I wanted to keep the Angel Mounds thread on-topic.  tip o' the hat

I definitely want to try and make it to some new places this year.  New Harmony and Brown County are both on my list.

Yeah, we should plan a voyage,  that place looks fun.

My first open weekend is April 4th.

I'm all about it. The more trails the better.

I met a guy at work today who is a pretty active mountain biker.  He said New Harmony was pretty badass and showed me this map:

The green sections are done and are about 4 miles.  The rest of the stuff is either being built or planned for the future.  In all it should be about 11 miles total.

That's pretty much my situation, except switch scales and harmony state park. So I'm sure once things settle down around my house with the new baby, I'll be out at harmony quite a bit on the weekends.
Harmony is real nice. I'm excited about it because it is so well constructed. It's quite a work of art so far.
I've added what I could to my site. I was up a few weeks back and took some photos. I was gonna ride but is had rained pretty good, enough to make the newest sections too muddy.

When it's all said and done, I think it will be Southern Indiana's version of Brown County.

I road these trails yesterday and their a blast, I think they might even be better than Scales.  They have been beautifully constructed, the ups and downs are right, and their are plenty of rollers you can jump if you're daring (you are riding pretty much the entire time on the side of a steep hill).  Even the beginners course was a nice ride.

Anyone who hasn't ridden them yet get off of Scales nutsack and get out there.

I would have posted up but I was out in the field surveying all day yesterday so I had no time for the internetz.  I would go tomorrow morning if you're interested.
Yeah,  good going there pal.  I spent my night riding through clay that smelled like dead asshole at angel mounds, swarmed with Mosquitos and thorn bushes.

I'm already booked at Scales for tomorrow.  If that falls through for some reason I'd be down for Harmonie.

I've been wanting to try and build a few bridges out at Angel Mounds over some of the spots that stay soggy.  Any advice on how to get started would be welcome.  cool
