Biking Destination Speculation Station

sure... 1st things-  I've not been able to contact anyone regarding trail work at Scales. I hear of a Frank M but do not know this individual... however, he and a few others have been hard at work over the winter.

it would be nice for a i net home  for scales so building days, trail conditions could be posted, and there is on the HMBA site, but few people use it...

anyway- do you know park policy regarding building? I don't. I attempted to find out but got no return calls....

Bridges: if you're looking at saving the end of "trail 2"'s malaria project......

Option 1: Build up the tread with unorganic soil, and ditch the surrounding soil to collect water.... this would be a huge pain in the ass due to soil amounts needed....

Option 2:  probably the best for the situation.... ditch the area either side of the tread... and not your conventional ditch narrow/deep... make it gradual and wide, collecting water from the wider area.... That section is a natural bog, so let it exist as one...

Bridge the entire section using treated material, and concrete footers... Expensive if the park won't supply materials

Option 3: the best for long term longetivity. Reroute 50% of the trails..

any other specific areas you were looking at?
oh man - I've been looking at browncountymountainbikeing.com and sifting through the info and maps there and comparing them to the posts on the HMBA forum and o my god what an amazing place.....

I've gotta get there!!!!
