Cycling & Eating Meet -- ??

Let's get this going. I'm out this weekend, but maybe the weekend after?
We can all decide on a place to ride, then grill some burgers and what not perhaps.
So we need ideas on dates and riding/eating place. It would be nice to do the riding and eating at or near the same place I think.

Ideas?
Ride downtown, then we'll eat at Fast Eddie's!  Cheers

Seriously, Lincoln Park in Dale has some fun stuff to ride (hiking trails, a concrete spillway) as well as a beach and shelter houses with charcoal grills. I know it's like $7 or something to get into that park, but it's still a lot of fun.

Off topic: Chris, is the "Come to daddy" in your avatar in reference to the Aphex Twin song?

Yes sir. That is Aphex Twin (Richard D. James) as my avatar. So I just thought it would be fitting to put that under him.

i'm definitely ill-equipped (not only my shape, but my bike's shape) for a bike ride, but i'm down for hanging out and getting some food.  yeah, i'm a fatty.   Cheers

I'm 6' and 230lbs. I'm a big fatty.  I think if I can get out there on a bike, you can too!  HAYYY

So maybe we can just have some of us meet up to ride, then whomever else will convene with us on a certain spot and all break bread together.  Cheers
This is quickly becoming the ride of the fat men.  I am 6'5", 245, but I am down to ride.  I'd like to get on some dirt though.  Pavement bad.
Pavement isn't bad, just tired of riding on it.

WORD!!!! Snoop
Does anyone know of fun spots to ride in the dirt? Since most of the people riding are self-proclaimed fatties I'll assume it's not an all-day ride.

Like I said before, Lincoln has quite a few hiking trails that are fun to ride. Just a suggestion, though. It's like 45 minutes from E-ville.

As of right now, that's the best (and only) suggestion. I just don't want to be on pavement all day.

I could probably ride most of the day, off and on. I'm far from where I need to be physically to ride all day. Give me until next spring, then maybe I could handle riding all day.

The 45 minutes away thing doesn't bother me much. That's not that far.

honestly, i'm not into riding enough to drive 45 minutes away to do it.  normally i ride around downtown in the middle of the night.  i definitely won't be doing any crazy jumps or whatnot, but going out on some dirt would be cool.  i haven't even gotten on a bike in over a year, so i'm sure i won't last more than an hour or two. i'm also 6 foot something and weigh 250 pounds.

Then maybe this first time out we could keep it close and "simple" as for the riding. I know, as I speak for myself, that I'm not ready for anything "technical" at all. I just want to get on some dirt and ride for a bit. Maybe get some good speed, hit some small jumps and what not. Nothing insane.
Well, there's Scales Lake, USI or Angel Mounds for dirt riding.
Here is a review for Angel Mounds.  They say it floods, and even though that last review was over a year ago, there still might be a lot of trees down from the tornado.

Here is the review for Scales Lake.  I think it might be a bit technical for a group of people just starting.  Requires some pushing up steep hills(maybe I'm just a pussy), and the one long fast section currently has a tree down.

Here is a USI review.  I haven't been there, but I hear it's pretty good.

I'd be down for a road or dirt meet though.  If on the road, I'd probably take my Schwinn for the sake of cruising for chicks on an old green bicycle. Casual road riding downtown or near a park would make it easier for an actual "meet," but I should be down for whatever.

I'm up for a downtown meet as well, that's where I prefer to ride anyway.

It really doesn't matter to me. If I have to ride on pavement again, I will just to be out riding. I just want to do this before I have to start working a 2nd job.

Lincoln Park is actually located in Lincoln City, IN.  SCIENCE

I still want to go down to Angel Mounds with a chainsaw and a box of nails to build some wicked North Shore shit.

Also, I'd be down for whatever.  I love riding downtown and I really want to go ride some dirt.  I have all kinds of new goodies on the way and can't wait to try them out.   Dance

If anyone ever feels like going out just say something.  I lead a sad and empty existence and I'm usually free after 5PM and on weekends.

I like this idea.  GREAT SCOTT!

But again, I'm down for just about anything. I just need to get back on a bike-a-roni!
I think they might frown upon cutting down trees and building ladder bridges at Angel Mounds.  Ha ha ha, but it would be pretty sweet.  There is a park in Illinois that has North Shore style traisl build.  I'll look for the link.

I'm good to go downtown.  Maybe you guys know of some stuff that's more fun to ride on down here.
