Most of the trees are down already.  They got wiped out during the tornado in 2005 along with most of the trails.  I read an article from a year or two ago where they were letting volunteers go out there with saws to clear the trails, so I bet you could get away with it.   HAYYY

I'm going to go out tonight and see if i can finally shatter my bottom bracket and or crank so I can have a good excuse to splurge on all the RaceFace stuff I want.  

Not sure how comfy I am riding trails until I can get the drivetrain of my shit replaced, I barely trust it on pavement at this point, don't want to bust out in the woods and have to hoof it back.    I'll have to report back after a few hard rides around the neighborhood with my comfort level of what i have, or if I'll have to bow out until I get my new tranny.

I know I should not be posting this in this thread, but I wanted to see if there was any interest in my bike.  I have a 2007 Giant Rincon, no disc brakes, 22" frame (I'm a big man).  Anyone out there interested in picking up a bike?  I'd like to see $250 for it.

Damn, if you weren't a monster I would be interested,  need a S or M bike for the old lady.  But I doubt a 5 foot even girl can fit on a 22 inch bike.

After a nice hard ride i have discovered 2 things.

1.  There is a reason my seat is called The Hemorrhoid.

2. My bike has apparently developed an automatic transmission, as I would choose a gear and it would happily select three different ones for me.   Then 1/4 mile later it would decide it didn't like what I had chosen.  Fucking Alivio derailleur.  X.0 here I come.

Your chain or cassette might just be worn out.  Feel free to buy an expensive light weight derailleur for a 38 pound bike, though.

Cassette and front sprocket are both done,  my 44 big ring only has about 20 teeth due to it being used as a bash guard.   Plenty of big drop freeride/DH guys swear by the X.0,  although I'll probably digress and roll with the X.9 for cost effectiveness.  I'll be replacing crank, bottom bracket,  shifters, front and rear derailleur, cassette and buying a proper big ring bashguard so I can save my shit from losing teeth in the dinosaur steps by the riverfront.

Badass,  I could actually climb stairs with it.


I wish I had more of a choice in bashguards,  but the Black Spire Big Ring Guard is the only one I can find that goes over 34t,   I don't want to lose my big 40+ ring.

Yea, even Blackspires Ring God only goes up to 38 and the Race Face Evolve DH crankset I am getting has a 44t big ring.
