Does anyone have a crank puller and a lockring tool that will work with a Shimano Octalink BB?  If so, I'd love to borrow them for a bit.  cool

Definitely have the puller and probably have the BB tool. Doesn't your Pitch have outboard bearing cranks, though?

No, it uses sealed cartridge bearings.  This is what I'm dealing with:

Alright, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page. I definitely have the puller and I'm 95% certain I have the right BB cup wrench.

EDIT: How soon do you need this stuff? You're welcome to borrow it.

Do you still work in Evansville?  I could meet you somewhere on lunch or something.  I'll be off at 4 on Thursday and Friday if that would be easier.  Or I could just drive out to your place some day.

Are you reworking the bottom end or just cranking everything down?

My BB was creaking and making all kinds of noises and an OEM replacement was $13, so I'm replacing it.

I have successfully failed.  I ended up spending $20 on the bottom bracket, $16 on a crank puller, $6 on a tube of grease and another $20 for a decent set of hex keys for a total of $62.

AND THAT WASN'T EVEN THE PROBLEM.  golf clap

I have no idea what it is.  Maybe one of the chainrings is loose or something.  I'm retarded.

New pedals?  My dad's shit was creaking, and he replaced the pedals and all was well. I think it is strange that you would have to replace all of this stuff on this new bike when G-Man's bike is much older and he has only had to replace very simple parts through the years. He also rides harder/more miles than probably anyone on this forum.  G-Man is crazy, so maybe replace the pedals and/or feel the wrath of G-Man and his "I'm old but I will kick your ass" riding style.

With all of my gear on I weigh 270lbs.  Let me ride G-man's bike for a season and we'll see how it's doing.  cool

It's not like I've had to replace a ton of stuff.  My stock wheelset was pretty weak to begin with so I got something stronger.  I replaced the BB because I thought it was creaking, which turned out to be incorrect.
