Raleigh Park Place

ok so Lindy had a yard sale and there was a bike from another person in the sale. looked kinda old school. it was not in great shape, but it rode ok,  And she really liked it.

So if the original buyer doesn't pick it up by the end of the day today.  Its mine.

It looks just like this one.

well except in worse shape.

it has a Raleigh sticker on it.

I was thinking of restoring it. cleaning up all the chrome bits or replacing them if possible?  and getting the chain and bearings redone so its easier to ride.

And then giving it to Lindy.  I told her I was just goiing to resale it.

on the raleigh website it says the Retroglide sells for $200-$400.

Anybody know about these bikes?

here's a few pictures I took the day of the sale, but they are not the best.

I'd say new chain, have the wheels trued and the front hub repacked with grease (may need new axle & bearings), and have the coaster in the rear inspected. They're pretty different from a normal hub, so if you've never messed with one before I wouldn't advise it. It probably won't work anymore when you put it back together. A new headset might be in order, and probably a new bottom bracket.

It sounds like a lot but it's really not. If you bring it to Dan's (or any bike shop for that matter) they can get you taken care of pretty easily.

yeah I was just worried about the mechanical parts of the bike. I could strip it and repaint it. or whatever.  but I know nothing about how the bearings are and all that.

I'll probably bring it by dan's in a couple weeks and see what they can do for me   cool
