Ride @ Angel Mounds - 2009 Edition

Frank M just put this on YouTube.  Animal is the man.  I like Angel Mounds for what it is.  I can ride fast and for a long distance without much concern for falling or making hills.  Scales is tops, but Angel Mounds is a nice place to take a beginner or work on endurance.
I want to 360 from the dock thing to that wedge ramp. Maybe I need to start riding with you guys.  wooooo

I still enjoy riding out at Angel Mounds because it's a totally different kind of riding.  I really need to work on building up some endurance before I can really enjoy riding out at Scales, and it's a good place for it.  The re-opened sections of trail are nice too.

Thank Christ you can't get AIDS from thorn bushes.

Angel Mounds is a goddamn disaster right now.  Most of the back section of the trail is really overgrown from all the rain and the thorn bushes have come back with a vengeance.  All of the same spots are still muddy but it's getting better.  That place needs a serious once-over with a weed-eater though.

What if the thorn bushes are gay?

I got no plans Memorial Day.
Can I bring my rascal?
How were the trails? I've got access to 15 rhinos, sharp and ready to go... we could all joust, or just work on the trails...

Angel has some great flow and can be improved upon and I've been told that the park management would like to have more usage... I've been meaning to make contact with them, but have been swamped with Harmonie stuff....

An update on the trails.  Myself and my friend Andrew went out with weedeaters today and got a ton of work done.  There was also a DNR guy out there working.  His idea of trail clearing differed from mine a bit, but at least he cleared out some of the heavier brush.  Here is the current state of things:

Green = good to go
Yellow = questionable but passable
Red = still wet or overgrown

The squiggly line toward the bottom is what we though was going to be a short connector trail but it turned out to be a long slog through trail that hasn't been cleared in YEARS.  We got it re-opened but the ground is really soft and the trailbed is non-existant in many places.  We were basically just playing connect the dots with the marker ribbons, when we could see them.

Awesome,  now just think dry and hopefully we can get it bedded in a little better this week.

Unfortunately I gave the state employee a little too much credit.  Some sections that were 'cleared' are barely rideable.  *sigh*

Looks like I'll be going back with the weedeater sometime soon.

Some of the sections were rough out there today.   Needs another good long day with tools to get it done right...then about 2 more weeks of pure sun to dry the rest out.

Still a good ride though....hopefully I can make the triple crown scales/am/NH again this week.  = Thinking DRY thoughts.
