Stolen Bike

My friend, who works at Gillis Bike Shop, got his bike stolen the on the 7th.  It's a Trek Madone 5.2, Blue and Black. Size 56 cm. Bontrager Race lite wheels, Look Clipless Pedals, White Bontrager Saddle and two Black Specialized Rib Cage H20 Water bottle cages.

It was stolen off his car while he was parked at the Donut Bank as US41 and Lincoln. Right now, he's in Canada on vacation. I'm trying to do the best I can to find it while he's gone. If you've seen this bike, please call me, text me, post here, send me a private message... ANYTHING. Just keep it in your sight and get ahold of me. Thanks, and keep an eye out.

My number is 430-8089, in case you see it.

I mean, I hope the kid finds his bike and all,  but from now on I bet he keeps his crazy expensive bike on a $50 lock.
That sucks a lot.  I'll keep an eye out.  Also, keep tabs on Craigs List because tons of stolen bikes around the country get sold for super cheap by people that don't realize what they are worth.
That sucks, I'll keep my eye out but I bet the odds are slim that he finds it.

I am always sketched out and almost never let my car out of sight while my bike is on it, people know these bikes are worth a lot a carbon fiber road bike that weighs 20 pounds looks a little different than the homeboys wal-mart bike.
yeah, what he did was irresponsible, but still doesn't deserve to have his ~$3000 bike taken from him. He parked it at that Donut Bank, then went to a party. The rack he has for his jetta doesn't lock. And, well, that's what happened.

Sorry but that's just dumb.     Even the most sheltered kid knows that is not a good area of town.   Leaving it on the rack while you got some coffee and doughnuts is one thing, leaving it on the rack and going away for a few hours is just kick you in the head stupid.

White boy riding that bike in that neighborhood would have got it stolen, let alone leave it in a parking lot unattended where thousands of people an hour drive by.

Deserves to get it stolen?  Of course not.    Not doing anything at all to avoid it happening?  Yup.
he's always really cautious about where he parks with his bike on his car, i don't know what he was thinking that night. i wasn't with them. if i was, i would have definitely said something about him leaving it there.

It's 58cm, not 56, and the serial # is WTUH9T120D.

unless there was a tire iron involved and the words "blood" or "teeth" in the story .. then this is bs.

However congratulations to your friend.. and may the light of intelligent decision shine upon him in his next moment of neglect for personal possession.
I'd like to know the story too.  Did he just report it to the police and they saw a bike matching the description in the area?
The police didn't do shit. A couple of his friends, who I don't hang out with, got it back for him. I'll talk to him when he gets back from Canada and update you guys on how it was found and such.

The white one? When did it get stolen?

No his old Specialized P3 got stolen by crackhead strippers from his apartment a few years back.  Sad day.

Wasnt the strippers - they were kind of nice actually. It was a geeker fat ass mexican guy that just happened to be in the right place at the right time and found out where the key was that particular day.

Not that the story is bs .. but how it was just magically recovered by his own friends.. sounds super fishy to me.

When my bike was stolen it was gone in less than 12 hours. I found out who did it, where he lived, where he worked, and managed to track down his grandma as well. Sent the police to all 3 places - guy had already sold it or stashed it - and that is the common way bikes go missing.. they dont just get taken and then your friends find it a week later.
Sounds like to me he went to a party, and it was taken by people at the party either maliciously or as a joke, and his buddies found out who did it. Still a fucking stupid chain of events for a 3000 dollar bicycle.  Maybe he'll start respecting his belongings now (On a side note I bet he didn't pay for the bike or this would never had happened).
^^^ that's probably what happened.

actually, he did pay for the bike. he pays for almost everything. it's a long story, but he's trying to be completely moved out of his house and on his own in the next 6 months.

he got it at a discount though, he works at a bike shop.
