I know there are like 2 people here that might be able to participate in this, but I thought I'd post something anyway.  I want to try and work on the Angel Mounds trails for a day and try to re-open the loop to the south.  As far as I know it hasn't been used since the tornado in 2005, but before that it was a pretty fun ride.

I started another thread in an attempt to solicit a chainsaw, and I already have a weed-eater to take out there.  Other tools that would be useful are shovels, garden rakes, shears, hedge clippers....pretty much anything along those lines.  Anyway, let me know if you can go out there some time.  I'm off work all week so I'm definitely going to be out there.

I'm an 8-5er so I can't do anything during the day during the week. But I'm up for weekends.

I just had a log splitter dropped off at my house so I will at least be spending one day cutting and splitting logs here. Other than that, I should be open. I have a weed eater, shovels, a hand saw, a rake, buckets of dirt, pruning shears if need be.

When do you want to do this?

Any time is good for me.  It's supposed to be mid-80's and sunny all week.  wooooo

I called my dad and asked if he still had his old weed-eater, thinking he had already bought a newer one.  He hadn't, but I guess the idea of getting a new weed-eater excited him, so he's bringing his old one down to me on Monday and going to get a new one.

My dad is a lawn care fanatic.  Big Grin

Well just let me know what you want me to bring, and when we are doing this.

My wife is going to kick my ass. I have yardwork/landscaping stuff to do around here that I've been putting off, but I'm jumping at the chance to do trail work for a day.  No you didn't!

You can borrow any of the stuff I have if you go out this week.  I'd be down to help out next Saturday as well.

I'd like to test out my new pedals when I get them, and I'd be down to help out.  I don't really have any power tools, but I could bring some shovels, a rake, and my hulking body that can lift trees and small economy sedans.  A Wednesday or Saturday would work out well for me.

I won't have my pedals by Wednesday, and I realized you work so it would have to be an evening which would cut into my road riding schedule.  I think I have the world's most complicated "not really doing much" schedule ever.

haha, no.  I'm just making excuses.  I got those shoes and I have some clipless pedals currently shipping. Ideally, I wanted to test them out and get used to detaching at a place less steep than Scales.

Can't help on Wednesday. I have to take my pops to a doctors appointment.

When you do go out there, if you have a chainsaw, can you cut that damn tree in half that is on the small north trail? It really interrupts the whole flow of the trail.

I went out there today with a weedeater and pruning shears and cut a swath of destruction 3 feet wide and 1.5 miles long.  I finally got my revenge on those goddamn thorn bushes.

Still have the old loop of trail to work on though.  Dance

Sweet like bear meat. I'm down for helping this weekend. I can probably even get my girlfriend to come along.

Saw your XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXterra out there when I took my dad home. He lives just a little bit east of Angel Mounds. I was going to stop and try and find you, but I was in shorts, was hungry since it was getting to be 4:30, and wanted to just get home after sitting at the damn hospital for 4 or so hours!

You going to work on it some more this week?

You should have come out...I'm sure I was a sight to behold.  I imagined myself cresting a hill with the sun at my back.  A weedeater in one hand, a gas can in the other.  Pruning shears sticking out of my backpack and smoking a cigarette.  Like some kind of deranged Mad Max or maybe the Rambo of gardening.  The sworn enemy of undergrowth and all that which inhibits bicycle riding.

Or maybe more like Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

Anyway, I might go for a ride tomorrow afternoon if I feel up to it.  SplitZX is planning on going out there with me Saturday to try and work on the old loop that never gets used any more.  Maybe we could make an event out of it.

Probably in the afternoon sometime, depending on the weather.  I think we're supposed to get some rain.

While I was rampaging through the forest like a hellbent pack of barbarians I came across a rather large stump on a hillside that, with a couple of 2x4's, would make a really great drop.  Only about 2 or 3 feet high but I think that's all I'd really be comfortable with at this point.

Maybe I'll go pick up some lumber and charge up the cordless drill Saturday morning.  wooooo
